We are asking for anyone’s help in finding our lost pet. Rocky is a black and white neutered male Boston terrier. He has a camo collar with tags that have our information on them. Rocky has some issues with his back legs and needs his medicine.

He was last seen on Feb. 22, he got out of the yard around 8 p.m. He has always returned home.

If you have seen him or have any information, please call us at 984-3929. Our family misses him very much and our kids really want him home. Please help us bring our dog home. Thank you.

Also addressed: Dear Garfield Search and Rescue,

This is regarding my call on Saturday, Feb. 23, regarding four stranded snowmobilers in the Grizzly Creek area.

At 6:30 that evening, my husband, Richard Wilson, one of the riders, called to ask if l could I dispatch Search and Rescue in the morning. They would be at the top of Grizzly Peak tomorrow morning for SAR. They packed extra gas (clearly not enough), but had provisions and were prepared to spend the night. There was no other communication.

I called the Garfield Sheriff’s office to give them a heads-up. Deputy Wood responded immediately, and took more information to forward to the Search and Rescue coordinator. In less than an hour, the SAR coordinator assured me he had already assembled a team to leave at daylight with the provisions.

The following morning I was contacted by a fellow coordinator who confirmed the team dispatched early that morning, and that he would forward any information to me as it became available to him.

It was not long before he called to inform me that contact had been made with the snowmobilers. Due to SAR’s familiarity with the area and their willingness to start out early enough to beat the oncoming weather, my husband and friends were spared another sleepless night in the snow, and perhaps much worse.

It is with much gratefulness that I write this letter. Upon first contact from my husband after being assisted by SAR, I asked him how it went, he reported it was “a class act.”

Everyone involved in the incident was very professional and thorough in their attempt to assess the situation and to determine the location of the stranded party in order to expend the necessary resources. The four snowmobilers, all experienced riders in the Routt County Steamboat area were thankful that SAR was so responsive, able to hone in on their location, and provide the gas and oil to enable them to come home to their families.

A most sincere expression of appreciation to all involved, for their professionalism, their skill, and their commitment. You are truly “a class act.”

I’ve known Sylvia Breidenbach for over a decade. She is one of the kindest, gentlest, sweetest people, and the world is lucky to have her.

I wasn’t there when the incident happened, so I can’t tell you what happened, but Sylvia isn’t a bad person.

I’ve known her for most of my life and she’s always been a happy and generous person. We all lose our tempers once in a while, don’t we? Isn’t that what makes us human? After teaching for over 30 years, she has to lose her temper sometime.

Sylvia isn’t someone to be feared, or to keep your children away from, she’s a human being, just like you and me.

Sylvia, not only do you have support from your friends and family, you have our love as well.
