Zelma Pauline Hood

Pauline passed away on Monday, at her home in Mankato, KS, at the age of 67.

Pauline was born on a farm in north Ashmore, Ill. in 1944 to Lloyd and Doris (Thompson) Strader.

She was happiest when spending time with her family and taking care of them.

Pauline’s favorite activities included being outdoors, working with flowers and gardening as well as reading and working on family history. One of her favorite projects was helping with the local high school play, making costumes each year.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dear friend to those who knew her.

Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Lloyd, and four brothers: John, James and Harold Dean, and Charles.

Surviving are her husband, Edwin Hood; children, Larry Hood of Mankato, Kan., RaDonna Mister of Denver, Sandra and Ron York of Grand Junction, Char Anna and Bill Flippo of Ft. Riley, Kan.; and Maria Gay of Superior, Neb.; 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Christian Church in Mankato, Kan. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at 11 a.m.

Melby Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
