Albert Leon Stark, Jr.

Albert Leon Stark, Jr. passed away October 20, 2015, in the quiet company of his family. Albert was born on July 20, 1939, to Albert L. Stark, Sr. and Muriel Howes in Spring Canyon, Utah. He moved to Canyon Creek with his Aunt and Uncle Kimminau as a young boy, where he attended the Little Red School House in Canyon Creek, then graduated Garfield County High School in 1958. He was married to Carolyn Newhouse on June 20, 1959. He attended CSU and Denver University, before returning to Glenwood Springs to raise his family. He continued to live in Glenwood Springs as a loving father, husband and small businessman. Albert married Karen Ferreria, and lived in Grand Junction in recent years.

Albert was preceded in death by his father and mother, siblings Merlene Pierce, Gilbert Stark and Richard Stark. He is survived by his wife Karen, brothers Patrick and Terry (Patricia) Stark, Carolyn Newhouse Stark, children Ann Dee (Bruce) Snode, Joelyn (David) Gruys, Barbara (Mark) Huffman, Jason (Sarah) Stark, grandchildren Kaycee (Mike) Manuppella, Nickee Snode, Tyler (Katie) Snode, and great-grandchildren Katy and Karly, Trevor and Tanner, Ella, Hayden and Haylie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support the Little Red Schoolhouse Club, where Al had many fond memories. Mail to 0152 County Road 137, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. A Celebration of Life will be held October 31 in the North Hall at the Garfield County Fairgrounds at 1001 Railroad Ave., Rifle, Colorado. Family is welcome to gather at 11:00 a.m. to share memories and photos.
