Alvin L. Cerise

Alvin’s life on earth ended on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Horizon Care Center in Eckert, CO. He was 84 years old.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 1, 2016, at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss, CO.

Alvin L. Cerise was born September 14, 1931, to John J. and Darphine M. (Usel) Cerise at Basalt, CO. He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Alvin proudly served his country in the Army. He was married to Patricia McCain for a period of time. He worked as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service, and later as a water commissioner for the State of Colorado.

He married Billie L. Spann on November 18, 1983, at Glenwood Springs, CO. Alvin and Billie made their home in Austin for the last 16 years, after having lived in Silt and Hotchkiss.

Alvin was a member of Mountain View Bible Church in Lazear. He enjoyed fishing, pruning trees and was an advocate for recycling for much of his adult life.

Mr. Cerise is survived by his wife, Billie Cerise of Austin, CO; his sons, David Cerise of Rifle, CO, Delton (Lynette) Cerise of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Duane Cerise also of Rifle, CO; his daughters, Diana (Charles) Pearson of Fruita, CO, and Dixie (Steve) Richards of Hotchkiss, CO; and his sister; Deanna (Norman) Miles of CA. He is further survived by 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his sons Douglas Collard and David Collard, and his sisters Anita Hatch and Ella Stapleton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Bible Church.
