Cathy Carlisle Queen (April 15, 1948 – February 3, 2019)
Cathy Carlisle Queen passed away on February 3, 2019. She is survived by her husband Darryl, daughter Jenny, sons Bryan and Matthew, sister Mary Davis, brother-in-law Bruce Davis, sister-in-law Katie Ingham and six granddaughters Faith, Alexa, Harper, Regan, Adah and Coral, whom she adored deeply.
Cathy will be remembered for a life spent loving and nurturing all she knew. Born Cathy Irene Carlisle on April 15, 1948 in Santa Monica, California, she grew up a Southern California girl. Her parents instilled a fondness for the Pacific Ocean, USC Trojan football and the Los Angeles Dodgers that was with her until her last day.
On September 11, 1976 she married Darryl and they eventually moved to the Roaring Fork Valley before settling for good in Glenwood Springs. A devoted wife, she and Darryl established a home filled with care and unconditional love. As a mother, she was proud and protective, instilling a set of values focused on serving others and welcoming everyone. She loved her work as an office manager at Zancanella and Associates and was well respected for her selfless nature. She took pride in the relationships she established with her extended working family. Her care for her dogs, cats and critters was endless. Mimi’s truest joy was in the nurturing of her granddaughters where she spent her final years committed to their well being and devoting her love.
Cathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those close to her take comfort in knowing that her heart will be forever with them. She spent her final days in her beloved home, and with family and doggies at her side, before passing comfortably and peacefully. True to her spirit, she faced every adversity with courage, dignity and the heart of a lion.
A memorial service is planned for her birth month in April and further details will be published once finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered in her name to the Colorado Animal Rescue at http://www.coloradoanimalrescue.org/donate.
