Virginia Cooper

Aug. 8, 1915 – March 3, 2014

Burial services for Virginia Cooper will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.

Virginia was born at home on Aug. 8, 1915, in Eagle. She graduated from Eagle High School in 1934 among a class of seven students. She was the last remaining member of the EHS Class of 1934.

Virginia married Lebert Larkin Cooper in June 1934. He was employed by the railroad. They later moved to California, where Lebert was employed at Mare Island Shipyard.

Virginia later moved back to Colorado, where she was employed at the Eagle Pharmacy for many years. After she moved to Glenwood Springs, she was employed at J.C. Penny Co., Bryant Drug Store and Safeway.

After retirement, she moved to Castle Valley Senior Housing in New Castle, where she was living when she passed away in her home on March 3, with her family in attendance.

Family was the most important thing to Virginia and she loved nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved flowers, gambling, traveling, camping and fishing. She was looking forward to summer and fishing at Meadow Lake, which was one of her favorite fishing spots.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Matsy and Bill Randall; her siblings, LaVeta Whittaker, Rolland Randall and Harold Randall; and a son, Lebert Cooper.

She is survived by her daughters, LaVeta (Ralph) Tharp of New Castle and LaVerle (Tex) Faulkner of Grand Junction; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Virginia had many friends and she will be missed by all.

A pot luck lunch at the Eagle Ranch Pavilion Studio will follow the grave side service.
