James Patrick Philben

James Philben an amazing loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and boyfriend passed away on the March 9 due to complications from a spinal cord injury. Prior to his injury he loved the outdoors. He had a special love for the rivers and mountains. He was a raft guide and an avid snowboarder.

After rehab at Craig Hospital, he continued to embrace life while he continued to ski, camp and hang glide in the company of his family, girlfriend, and friends.

He was able to walk 1,163 steps with the help of Amanda Boxtel and the Bridging Bionics Foundation, after his injury.

He touched hundreds of lives with this beautiful smile and caring soul. He is survived by his parents, Dan and Sam Philben of Glenwood Springs, his sister Rebecca and Julio Popoca of Mexico City, his niece Ximena and nephews Kevin, Abraham, Mateo and Oliver, his girlfriend Anna Scrimshire and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He joins many family members in heaven.

We would like to thank everyone for the love and support we have received. His life and spirit continues through organ donations, thanks to the help of Donors Alliance.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bridging Bionics Foundation. Celebration of life will be at The Hotel Colorado June 12th at 1pm.
