JD Wade

J D Wade, 93, joined our Heavenly Father on June 19, 2014, 17:45 p.m., after a courageous battle of cancer. JD, the son of Clifford Wade and Margaret (Davis) Wade, was born in Graham, KY on March 8, 1921. JD was one of nine children. He attended Graham High School until he enlisted in his Navy career on Sept. 13, 1938.

Serving in the U.S. Navy was JD’s proudest accomplishment. He served in World War II, as one of the first naval helicopter mechanics. He was stationed at Banana River Naval Base until 1949, when he was transferred to Charlie Town naval Base in Rhode Island. Later in 1949, JD was transferred to Lake Hurst, NJ. From 1951-1953, JD was stationed in Pensacola, FL where he spent most of his days at sea. After voyage, JD was transferred to Hutchinson, KS, and then was finally sent to Fitzsimmons in Denver, CO. After retiring from the Navy, JD worked at the Gates Rubber Company from August 1958 until March 1967. From there, JD moved to Garfield Creek outside of New Castle, CO. He remained there of 31 years while working for Union Carbide, Benedict Central and the Mid-Continent Mine. JD and his wife owned the Silver Club Bar in New Castle, CO from 1972-1974.

In the military service, JD met and married Memory Deane Babb on Oct. 10, 1944. To this union they had three children. He was preceded in death by Memory, after 54 years of marriage. He was also preceded by his parents, seven siblings and one granddaughter (Sheila). He is survived by his companion, Lorraine Jackson, his brother, Robert Wade, his three children Roger Wade (Lola), Memory Delane Wade Kinshella (Jean), Tracy Kahl (Art), nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Dad, you are our hero. Thank you for your unconditional love. You will always be in our hearts.
