Joyce June Cerise Nov 25, 1927 – Sept 18, 2013

Joyce June Cerise, 84, a longtime resident of Carbondale, CO, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She is survived by her spouse, Edward J. Cerise of Carbondale; children: Dan Cerise of Cedaredge, CO; Linda and husband Les Krumel of Cedar Crest, NM; Cynthia and husband Steven Stein of Virginia Beach, VA; Gary Cerise and wife, Sherry of Fremont, Nebraska.; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cerise was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Wayne Alsbury, Donald Alsbury and Frederick (Gene) Alsbury Jr.

Joyce was born at home in Wauneta, Nebraska, where her parents farmed. She moved to Carbondale with her parents, Fred and Pauline Alsbury, and brothers in 1942 where they ranched and started a livestock Sales Pavilion. The Alsbury Sales Pavilion was relocated to West Glenwood Springs where she helped her parents run the business until they retired in the late 1960s.

Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Edward Cerise, July 23, 1947, in Twin Falls Idaho. They moved back to the Carbondale area to help both Cerise and Alsbury families with farming, ranching and the sales pavilion business. In 1955 she and Ed moved into Carbondale.

Joyce enjoyed being with her grandchildren, gardening, fishing and camping in the mountains of Colorado. During retirement, she and Ed enjoyed winters in Apache Jct., AZ, where they played shuffleboard locally and at state meets.
