Kenneth Byron Hulslander

On June 10, 2015, we lost our beloved Kenneth unexpectedly to heart problems. Kenneth Byron Hulslander was born to Ethel Ruth and Leonard Bradford Hulslander on September 21, 1955, in Leadville, CO. The first several years of his life were spent on a ranch in Dillon, CO. He graduated from high school in Joliet, MT. At Colorado Mountain College in Leadville he earned a degree in Ski Area Technology. Ken married the love of his life, Joyce Bender, on May 19, 1976. They established their home in Glenwood Springs, CO. They had one daughter and two sons. Ken worked in several industries from mining, logging, diesel mechanics to welding. His welding business, Innovative Ironworks, was started in 1986. Ken loved skiing, building things with his hands, vacationing and spending time with family and friends. He was the happiest when driving the back roads of Colorado or telling his tales. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Ken is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chris Wiethoff; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Ximena Hulslander; and son, Jeff Hulslander. His surviving grandchildren are Emily Balkema and Paige and Wesley Wiethoff. Surviving sisters are Elnora Stewart, Bernice Keime, Betty Huckabee, Arta (Ron) Wray, and Karma (Bill) Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Apple Tree Park, 5175 County Road 335, New Castle, CO, on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:00 am.

The family would love you to join them for a potluck afterwards to share memories and anecdotes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ken’s name to New Hope Church, PO Box 620, New Castle, CO 81647.
