Kent Crabtree

Gary Kent Crabtree went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, May 2, 2016 in St John’s, AZ.

Kent (as his friends and family know him) was known as all as a “gentle man and a gentleman.”

Kent is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Sandy Crabtree. He is also survived by six children: John Crabtree, Susie Gibson, David (Missy) Crabtree, Chuck (Kiven) Waid, Dan Waid, David (Donna) Waid; by nine grandchildren: Darrin Crabtree, Todd Crabtree, Kinsie (Chris) Valentine, Treonna (Erik) Villasenor, Jessalyn Waid, Austin Stoners, Aaron Stoners, Jennifer Velasquez, Jacob (Becca) Velasquez and three great grandchildren: Kolton Valentine, Jocelyn Stoners, Daniel Stoners.

Kent was born in Denver, Colorado on March 1, 1935 to Kenneth & Bertha Crabtree. Kent’s mother died when he was four and his father died when he was six, so he and his brothers were raised in a Denver Orphanage, Clayton College for Boys.

Kent also served his Country as Airman in the US Navy Reserve.

Kent’s first marriage was to Diane Wilson and together they had three children and lived in Glenwood Springs.

He met and married Sandy Waid on November 23, 1985 and brought their families together. Kent and Sandy lived in New Castle, Colorado, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and finally moved to St John’s, Arizona where he lived out his final days with his loving wife and dogs.

Kent will forever be remembered for his kind and loving spirit that he has passed to the hearts of all that have known him. His selfless devotion to his church, family, friends and community were always present in the works that he did. His constant love and guidance to his wife, children, grandchildren, and his extended family will be sorely missed with his passing. He had a great passion for the time that he spent with family and friends while doing any number of activities outdoors, camping, fishing or gardening, making memories.. and always present were his dogs.

Viewing will be at 10:00 am followed by services at 11:00 am Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Downtown Chapel, St John’s, AZ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Burnham Mortuary, St Johns, AZ.
