Landis (Lanny) Kroh

Lanny succumbed to a long and brave battle against stage 4 lung cancer on Saturday, May 7 2016. He was born in Bradford, PA. on June 9, 1935. Lived in Bradford until he was 18 when he attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he majored in engineering. Before his senior year, he was drafted into the Army for two years. He returned to Lehigh for his last year and graduated in 1961. Worked for 36 years for Dresser-Rand which originally was Worthington Corp. in Buffalo, NY. He married his sweetheart Arlene Krebs in Nov., 1963.

After retirement in 1997, he and Arlene built a home in Carbondale, CO where they lived for 18 ½ years and skied for 17 years. In retirement, he did much volunteering including seven years as a trustee on the Garfield County Library Board during the time four new libraries were built and two libraries remodeled. He also served on Hendrick Ranch’s architectural committee for years then on the Financial Committee of the Carbondale Community United Methodist Church until his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Arlene, daughters Kristen Mucher (Douglas), Jennifer Kroh (Hien Nguyen) and grandchildren Tyler Stevens and Serena Nguyen.

Donations in Lanny’s name can be made to Calaway Young Cancer Center at Valley View Hospital, Home Healthcare and Hospice of the Valley – both in Glenwood Springs and The Carbondale Community United Methodist Church in Carbondale. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at the Carbondale United Methodist Church, 385 S. 2nd Street, Carbondale on Saturday, June 4th at 10 A.M.
