Melanie (Mel) Baumert passed away unexpectedly in a tragic automobile accident on September 16, 2015, in Rifle, Colorado at the age of 41.

Mel is survived by her father; Roy (Pops) Robinson of Rifle, Colorado; her two children, Sarah Davis of Monroe, Georgia and Samantha (Sammy) Baumert of Rifle, Colorado; brother Marc Robinson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Samantha’s father, Andrew Baumert of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and partner Manuel Cruz of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Sam and Sarah Robinson, in Greenock, Scotland, and Sarah’s dad Matthew Davis of Illinois.

Mel was born on January 4, 1974 in Hilo, Hawaii. She graduated from Glenbard East School High in Lombard, Illinois, as well as served in the U.S. Army for two years as a paratrooper.

While living in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Mel worked for several automotive repair shops in the valley as well as for a number of heath fitness facilities from Rifle to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Mel’s number one priority throughout her life is her two children, Sarah Lynn and Samantha Sally. Her children will always be able to remember her as a fun-loving, free-spirited and adventuresome mother who continually encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Mel accomplished and received numerous certifications surrounding the physical fitness world and often shared her knowledge and experience with those who struggled to “beat the bulge”.

She was a funny, witty and spit-fire individual who was so passionate about physical fitness and spending time with her Pops, daughters, family and friends.

She was an active and dedicated member of the BPOE 2286 Elks Lodge in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and often volunteered for the many fundraisers hosted by the Lodge. She loved being outdoors whether it was camping, fishing or 4-wheeling and always up for an adventurous challenge.

A memorial and celebration for life is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Pavilion by the river pull-out at Two Rivers Park, Glenwood Springs, CO. All are welcome to attend and it’s a pot luck. Condolences can be shared on http://www.facebook.com.
