Michael (Mike) W. Burdett
Michael (Mike) W. Burdett, 51, died peacefully at home & went to meet the Lord on December 19, 2014. He was born September 18, 1963, in Salina, KS. He grew up in the Manhattan & Junction City, KS, area. He graduated from JCHS & Manhattan Area Technical College. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1986, ultimately met & married Jeanne Pruess & they were together 25 years. He operated his own auto repair business where he could repair anything, farmed & raised cattle. They moved to the Western Slope in 2004. Mike worked for the City of Glenwood Springs as a fleet mechanic. He continued his love of farming & raising cattle. Mike was a devoted husband who loved the outdoors. His hobbies included being an expert horseman who loved to trail ride in the beautiful Colorado mountains as well as fishing, hunting, camping & snowmobiling.
He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Burdett, his grandparents Ellery & Olive Kimball & Uncle Thomas Kimball. He never had any children of his own but had numerous 4-legged “kids” throughout the years whom he loved like children. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his parents Marie & Bill McConnell, his sisters Denise (Glenn) Drake, Deborah Brown, numerous nieces, nephews & many friends. The entire family would like to extend their deepest & most heartfelt appreciation to our friends & the medical community, especially the staff & volunteers of the Hospice of the Valley.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes he will be cremated; there will be a celebration of life to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael W. Burdett fund at any Wells Fargo Bank or to Home Care & Hospice of the Valley P.O. Box 3768, Basalt, CO 81621.
