Ron Rogers

Ron Rogers, a half-time resident of Silt, Colorado ,passed away on February 19th in his home at Spring Creek Ranch. He was 72. Ron was a native of Los Angeles, where he was a public relations executive and was very involved in the civic life of the City. He served on the board of the Rape Treatment Center for decades and he was also a founder of the LAPD Foundation and the LAFD Foundation. As reported in the LA Times, Police Chief Charlie Beck said “Ron was a longtime friend … he was probably the most genteel and generous person that I know. I meet a lot of people, and…you know, he was real genuine.”

Twenty-seven years ago, Ron and his wife Lisa bought ranch property in the mountains outside of Silt. He turned it into one of the most beautiful and peaceful cattle ranches in the state, and she created a warm and charming ranch home. Ron loved ranch work including, among other things: cattle drives, branding and doctoring cows, doing ranch chores, planting trees, building equipment sheds and chicken coops. Lisa says, at heart Ron was a cowboy.

Ron died at home on the ranch — the place he loved best.
