Ula Vaun Kirkman

Ula, 62, of Mesa, Colorado, passed away November 28, 2015, in Grand Junction, after a valiant fight against cancer for over 2 years. Ula was born on Nov. 4, 1953, to Erma and Clyde Kirkman, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ula was a professional accordion player. She learned to play at age 10. She enjoyed playing at senior centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and dances. Ula was a much loved entertainer. Ula loved to fish, camp, hike, play bingo, and rescue animals. She was known for her great sense of humor, caring and kindness. Ula is survived by her partner Becky Strong, and family and friends who loved her. A special thank you to St. Mary’s Oncology, Cancer Pavilion and Hope West for their care of Ula during her Journey; also dear friends and family for love and support. A Celebration of Ula’s life will be held Friday, December 4, 2015, Starting at 4:00p.m. at the Mesa Community Center at 48973 KE Road, Mesa, Colorado. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope West of the Grand Valley, or Rifle Animal Shelter.
