Vernon R. Worley

Carbondale Resident Vernon R Worley (Bus) passed away on Saturday, March 7th, 2015, at Heritage Care Center. He was 88 years old. He was born on March 3, 1927, to John S.P. and Myrtle E. (White) Worley, in Salem, Missouri. He spent his childhood in Carbondale, attended Rock Creek School, now known as the BRB, graduated in 1941. In 1951 Bus married Afton Allred; they later separated. In January he married Janis Dickson in Basalt. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping & dancing. He was Mid Continent Coal & Coke’s oldest employee, 1956-1991. He also enjoyed working on the Big 4 Ranch with his son Buz Jr. and his family. He is survived by his sons Bill Edwards, Doug Edwards and Buz Worley, Jr., and sister Bonnie Stice. Two grandchildren, Cody and Dusty, and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janis, parents, and brothers Floyd, Bill, Cliff, and Clyde and one sister, Ruth Hatter.
