Viola M. Waters, 97 of Glenwood Springs passed away February 10, 2019 at home of natural causes.

Viola grew up on a ranch in Cattle Creek then moved to Glenwood where she and Andy made their home along the Roaring Fork River. She would watch wildlife and rafters from her window. This brought her lots of enjoyment. Early in her kids’ lives, she guided many girls through Brownies and Girl Scouts.

For many years she worked at Hesteds and Ben Franklins in the sewing department and later at Anderson’s Pants Pocket.

She continued her love of sewing, making quilts for her family. In the spring and summer she looked forward to planting flowers.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Waters, brother Harold Miller; two sisters Grace Young and Nellie Warren and her parents. She is survived by two children, Veda and Gerald Waters; son-in-law James Waters; daughter-in-law Susie Waters; sister-in-law Ethel Miller; grandchildren Jason, (Faith) Minnesota, Jennifer (Carl) Utah and Andy (Stacie) Silt. Great-grandchildren Martin and Nikeese Waters of Minnesota; Madison and Maizelynn Waters of Silt; Carrie Waters, Glenwood and Maddox and Cameron Wanner of Utah.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 16 at 2:00 pm at First United Method Church in Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 with burial to follow at Rosebud Cemetery.
