5 Minutes with … a skateboarder
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
Name: Max Harrington
Place of birth: Aspen
School: Glenwood Springs High School; sophomore
How long have you been a skateboarder: About a year and a half.
How often do you skate? Every day.
Where do you skate? I built a halfpipe in my backyard. I am in there a lot. Then I come to here (to the Glenwood Skate Park) every day.
What kind of tricks do you know how to do? Tray flip, kick flip, front-side flip, varial, a lot of stuff.
Best vacation ever? The Bahamas. A Bahamas cruise trip. There were 100 hot chicks on the boat.
What do you do in your spare time? Skate.
Greatest accomplishment: I used to be a professional juggler.
How did you get into juggling: My parents signed me up for a class.
Ever had a book, movie, news event change your life? The World Trade Center. That was sad for everyone.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever received; or a cliche to live by? The truth is when you close your eyes at night. There is no one around and it is just you and your own thoughts, so you are thinking nothing but the truth.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I don’t know. I am still thinking.
If you only had three TV channels, what channels would you pick? Comedy Central, Fox because they’ve got “The Simpsons” and Cartoon Network because they have a lot of shows I used to watch and still like to watch.
What’s the worst injury you have had skateboarding? I haven’t really had any. I have been lucky. I have sprained my ankle a few times, but nothing serious.
If you could invite any three people to dinner, who would they be, what would you serve and what would you talk about? My friend Jay, Carrot Top and Chris Haslam (a professional skateboarder) because he looks like a hobo, but he’s clean. We’d eat lobster and steak and we’d talk about past experiences and skateboarding.
What’s the greatest invention of all time? The barcode.
