A significant legislative record
For the past eight years I have represented Northwest Colorado in the House of Representatives. By anyone’s standards, I have left a record of significant accomplishments for the citizens I have represented. Those accomplishments include major legislation for tourism funding ($20 million annually), increased funding for teachers($25 million in the last eight years), increases for funding of the bottom-funded school districts throughout the state ($24 million annually), and I have done it without any increased tax mandates to taxpayers. I have also created legislation to assist in the creation of open space and affordable housing. After the Supreme Court’s Kelo case, I was responsible for legislation that gives additional protection to private property owners against condemnation for economic development purposes.I have twice been endorsed (’06 and ’08) by the Colorado Conservation voters for my public policy decisions protecting the environment, and worked closely with the coalition opposing Referendum A, the $2 billion Western Slope water grab several years ago. For the past two years, I have been a member of the Joint Budget Committee, which gives me leverage on all of the issues that concern the citizens that I represent. In my position as a JBC member, I am in a great position to further my efforts on behalf of the economy, education, water, the environment and much more. I want to be elected to the 8th Senate District so that I can continue my guardianship of all of the many issues of importance that I have worked on so successfully since 2001.Rep. Al White, R-Hayden, is running for the state Senate in District 8.
