Letter: Biz-Opoly speaker praised
I want to thank the Glenwood Springs chamber and my fellow Glenwood Springs Tourism Promotion Board members for inviting marketing and small business strategist John Schallert to speak as part of this year’s Biz-Opoly.
Schallert reminded us that despite the modern complexities of marketing such as the technical nuances of digital advertising, search engine optimization, and changes to the workings of Facebook about every nine months, we can’t overlook the basics. It’s about finding your story, identifying your uniqueness, and bringing it more forward in your marketing and business operation.
Schallert also provided numerous examples of small businesses working together, going to seminars together, with the end goal of not only boosting their own brands, but also building up their community’s overall appeal as an overnight travel destination. Schallert showed that while each business has its own character and story, through collaboration they collectively make one heck of an interesting place to visit.
One of the strengths of Sunlight is the strong, longstanding partnerships it enjoys within the community, as well as many promising new partnerships being forged. This year’s Biz-Opoly seminar was a very accessible and affordable opportunity to see your brand through the eyes of a true small business marketing veteran, not to mention a great opportunity to catch up with local partners and meet new friends.
