Canine news …

Dog saves boy! That’s the headline. Now take a minute to think about what the headline could have been.It can never be said enough – water can be dangerous, and this time of year, water in the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers is fast and cold. For 9-year-old Ryan Rambo, a life jacket helped save his life, then Zion, the 2-year-old yellow Lab, came to the rescue.A great feel-good story. These stories only feel good when everyone goes home safe. This story should also be a good reminder of the dangers of having fun on the water. Always wear a life jacket, don’t take unnecessary chances and make safety and caution the top priority.I love stories with a happy ending – who doesn’t? Always remember what the headline could be when you think about those happy endings. It makes the story feel that much better.Nothing like a good lesson about danger when everyone makes it home OK.Just remember, Zion might not be around next time.
