The New Castle Community Market takes place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30, in Burning Mountain Park. This week’s specials are Olathe sweet corn and vine-ripened Palisade peaches, sweet and juicy. The music this week is Barry Andersen of the Porch Pickers, who will be playing his Americana and folk style tunes. Andersen plays a wide assortment of cover songs from artists like The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Byrds, Don McLean, John Hartford, Neil Young and John Prine as well as a few of his own songs. All of the usual vendors will be on hand plus some new ones each week. Each week there is a drawing for $1, and all the proceeds go back into the market. Prizes are donated by local New Castle businesses.
