Picture this: a day in the life of Garfield County
They say a photo is worth a thousand words. I really don’t know if that’s true, but a good photo can leave a person slack-jawed, standing in awe, mouthing the words, “Wow!”
I’ve always liked taking photographs, and even won an award for one once. One of my favorite photographs I took captured my wife and son on a merry-go-round, capturing a moment in time that I’ll never forget.
Just the other day I was looking over some old photographs from years past. Most were forgettable, but a few, well, they just made me smile.
That’s what a good photograph does ” it stands the test of time. It might make you smile, it might make you cry.
But it always exacts some kind of emotion.
I’ve had the privilege of working with top-notch photographers in my career, including two excellent ones right here in Glenwood Springs.
Garfield County in all its majesty offers them unlimited photography options.
So, we’ve decided to try to capture some of that photography magic in an upcoming special magazine in September.
But first we need your help. On Aug. 8, we’re going to portray the story of a day in the life of Garfield County ” with photos.
We’re asking all photographers ” yes, that means you ” to help us with this project. We’re looking for photos taken from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. that day, with diverse locations, subjects and times encouraged.
Contact me at 945-8515, ext. 517, or e-mail email@example.com if you’re interested or have questions.
We’re willing to bet your photo is worth a thousand words.
