The Glenwood Springs Middle School Chair Auction is going full swing with 12 fabulous chairs, including a tribute to the Beatles and a white lacy princess chair complete with a teddy bear and ballet slippers. The chairs arrived at Alpine Bank in Glenwood Springs Nov. 15, and will be there until the 26th, when theyll move to the US Bank next to Safeway. Theyll move again to the middle school Dec. 3, where the last bids will be accepted until 3 p.m.

The fifth Writing the Sacred, a womens contemplative retreat, will be held by Sandra Dorr Jan. 2-6 at St. Benedicts Monastery in Snowmass. Morning writing meetings; daily yoga sessions, hiking or skiing on monastery grounds, optional vespers, masses, and meditation. Any citizens or organizations with an interest in the future uses for the area known as The Crown are invited to attend a series of public meetings. The Crown is located southeast of Carbondale and is managed by the BLM. Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers (RFOV) is facilitating these meetings to provide citizen input into the revision of the BLMs land use plan for this area, with three to four meetings likely before the Feb. 1, 2008 deadline. All neighbors and users are encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the El Jebel Fire Station.
