Garfield County Public Library System continues the Paws Claws Scales and Tales Summer Reading Program. This weeks special programming will be musician Eric West. For this interactive performance, Eric will bring a collection of traditional and original instruments from all over the world. Summer Reading programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Carbondale Town Hall; 2 p.m. today at the Glenwood Springs Library; 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the New Castle Community Center; 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Silt Community Center; 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Bea Underwood Elementary School in Parachute; and 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at That Place in Rifle.

Defiance Community Players is accepting applications for music and vocal directors for the fall production of Sweet Charity. For more information please contact producer Jacquie Meitler, at 945-2174.

Steven Twamley, a Rifle High School graduate and Garfield County Sheriffs deputy, suffered an accident July 6 in Rio Blanco that put him in a coma. A fund has been set up at Alpine Bank in his name to make donations to help with medical costs.
