Donations are now being accepted for Carbondale Rotarys annual Community Yard Sale. Call Sid at 319-6774 for arrangements. Carbondale Rotary is not able to accept ski equipment, computer equipment or large appliances.The yard sale will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Carbondale.
Fall into some fun at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts in after-school and work activities. Begin with just one class in art, dance, music, jewelry making, language or pottery and you will be on your way to uncover your inner Van Gogh. Register over the phone at 945-2414.

Come be part of the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts Dance Company, which is taught by professionals and performs in the valley on a year-round basis, highlighted by Dancers Dancing each year in April. Art Center Dance Company auditions will be from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, for the Junior Company (9-14 years), and from 6:15-7 p.m. for the Senior Company (15 and up).Senior Company dancers are paid a stipend to perform. Be part of the Dance Company and take unlimited classes in all subjects.
The Yarn Garden in Carbondale will sponsor an exhibit of handknitted and crocheted bags at the Sept. 1 First Friday Art Walk in Carbondale. The selection of bags ranges from large market bags to small jewelry pouches, some felted and many embellished, all made by locals. They will be shown at the Grana Bread Co. at 320 Main St., from 5-8 pm. Many of the makers will be present.The whole communitys work is welcome. Entries should be dropped off at the store on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 30-31. The contact number is 963-7374.
The annual meeting of the American Red Cross, Western Colorado Chapter Board of Directors, will be at 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Salvation Army Building, 1235 N. Fourth St., Grand Junction. The slate of candidates for 2006-07 board membership will be presented for approval by the general membership. The meeting also will highlight the past years accomplishments and recognize local individuals for their volunteer efforts and commitment to the community.
