The Valley View hospital auxiliary scholarship applications are due Friday, April 20.The scholarships include: Four $3,000 scholarships to any local high school student who has been accepted into a Health Sciences program at a college or university. These scholarships and are for graduating high school seniors only. Two $3,000 Health Sciences Scholarship for persons entering or continuing with studies in the medical field.For more information on the above scholarships and applications, call Becca Schickling, Volunteer Coordinator at 384-6656.Four $3,000 Valley View Nursing scholarship through Colorado Mountain College are also available. Only students accepted into the CMC nursing program are eligible. Call the CMC Foundation at 945-8355 for more information.

Two live shows of original stand-up comedy will take place at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Winchester Nite-Club, 2090 Whiteriver Avenue in Rifle. Doors open at 4 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale at the Winchester Nite-Club, Harrelson Music, Glenwood Music, Sounds Easy in Carbondale and the Great Divide Music in Aspen. Bring your rod and learn about the world-class fly fishing from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 11 on the Roaring Fork River. Avid angler Rick Lofaro of Roaring Fork Conservancy will lead this free two-hour introduction to fly fishing at Blue Creek Ranch. The program will include an overview of Blue Creek Ranch, practical entomology, reading the water, and a casting tune-up. Please dress appropriately; the event will happen rain or shine. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Please call 927-1290 to register.
