The new Carbondale Efficient Building Code goes into effect June 8. After this date, all residential building permits must comply with the new code. There will be a code workshop from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Town Hall. For a limited time, contractors may receive free assistance regarding code compliance. Call Joani Matranga at 704-1528 to schedule an appointment.

The Family Visitor Programs will be conducting a diaper drive from June 1-15 to distribute disposable diapers to local families in need. Each year American families spend about $2,400 per year, per family, on diapers. For many it becomes a struggle to meet the challenges of having limited dollars, translating into limiting the number of diaper changes babies may receive. By donating diapers, you can help make life a little easier for these families.From June 1-15 you can make a diaper donation to any Alpine Bank, City Market or Safeway locations from Aspen to Parachute, as well as Aspen Valley Hospital or Valley View Hospital.You can also make a tax-deductible donation for diapers to Family Visitor Programs by mail at P.O. Box 1845, Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 or online at http://www.familyvisitor.org. For more information, call 945-1234, ext. 10.

Free fly-fishing clinics will be held at 10 a.m. every Saturday morning in June, at The Taylor Creek Fly Shop in Basalt. The clinics will cover equipment setup, casting, reading the water, entomology, and other relevant topics.If you are interested or have any questions, please call 927-4374.



Join the Stomparillaz at 6:30 a.m. every other Friday morning beginning June 1 for a breakfast ride to Basalt, Glenwood Springs or Redstone. Riders meet at Dos Gringos and bring money for breakfast. If you have any questions, please contact Becky at 704-4116.
