The ninth annual Great Balls of Fire, sponsored by the Carbondale Rotary Club, takes place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the new Carbondale Fire Training Center on Meadowood Drive.The event includes a sit-down dinner catered by Conundrum Catering, a silent auction, a live auction with auctioneer/magician Doc Eason, and dancing to the music of the original Bobby Mason All Star Band.To purchase tickets, contact a Carbondale Rotarian or ticket chair Rick Carlson at 963-7402. This years Great Balls of Fire beneficiary selected by the club to share in the evenings proceeds is Feed My Sheep, a Glenwood Springs-based organization helping the valley homeless. The remainder of the proceeds go to the Rotary Clubs biannual grant program for local nonprofit organizations, and to the Rotary International Foundations projects around the world.Major sponsors of this years Rotary Happening are ACE Hardware, Alpine Bank, American National Bank, Amor Real Estate, Aspen Earthmoving, Carbondale Fire District, Valley View Hospital Foundation, Wells Fargo Bank, Bethel Rentals, and Conundrum Catering.

Crystal River Baptist Church announces a one-time-only free performance by Psalms of Praise at 7 p.m. tonight, June 7. The group of six ladies from Hyles Anderson College will present a spiritually uplifting performance at Crystal River Baptist Church, 2632 Highway 133 in Carbondale.
