In conjunction with the Thompson Creek Open Space Picnic Trail Work Day Sept. 15, breakfast will starts things off at 8 a.m., a noon lunch will be offered and dinner at 6 p.m. will be served by the renowned Chef Michele at the Thompson Creek and Crystal River Confluence. The days activities include smoothing gravel over the pathway, planting a cottonwood and willow visual screen, and setting two picnic tables at the confluence. Louie Whilsher, Jim Carlson and Crystal with the Nobel Design Studios have produced the plans and the Carbondale Trails Committee has joined Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, the Roaring Fork Conservancy and Pitkin County Open Space in making this dream happen. The team is looking for 35-40 people to share a fall day in a glorious spot with fun people doing a worthwhile project.
A free first time homebuyer workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Glenwood Springs City Hall. Learn all you need to know about purchasing a home at the class taught by Certified Homebuyers Education Instructor and guest speakers Mike McAvoy and Nate Hunt with Alpine Bank, and Julian Hardaker with Remax. Roaring Fork High School (RFHS) will host a community open house and building dedication at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the new high school, located just south of Carbondale at 2270 Highway 133. The event, hosted by students, staff and parents, will begin with a short program and will follow with refreshments sponsored by A&P Construction, music, a building open house, displays and slideshows showcasing the quality learning and academic excellence at RFHS. You can still be part of the Glenwood Springs Mural Project. The designs are on the panels and are ready for colorful paint. Everyone is invited to paint the mural panels from noon to 7 p.m. during the week of Aug. 27, Monday through Friday. Painting will be held in the Glenwood Springs Library basement Tuesday, Aug. 28. Paintbrushes will be working at Centennial Park at Ninth and Grand Monday, Aug. 27, and Wednesday, Aug. 29, through Friday, Aug. 31. For more information, drop by the library or call Pam at 945-5958. All ages are welcome.
Basalt High School Booster Club will be hosting its annual Spaghetti Supper from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on Back to School Night.Dinner will be served in the Basalt High School cafeteria. Proceeds benefit the many athletic programs at BHS.Bring the whole family and enjoy a delicious meal while supporting the school.
