The eighth annual Culinary Arts, Wine and Brewfest will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Hotel Colorado. Call the Center for the Arts at 945-2414 for tickets.

Symphony in the Valley will begin its 2007-08 concert season this weekend with a lighthearted adventure into the downright silly side of classical music with the concert, Comedy Tonight.The concerts will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Grand Valley High School in Parachute, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale.The concert also features the premiere performance of Symphony Sampler, by Glenwood Springs composer James Belling. Tickets are available at the door. Season tickets good for Symphony in the Valleys concerts in October, December and May will also be sold at the door.

Starting Nov. 1, 18th Street will be closed from Whiteriver Avenue to east of the batting cages in Rifle. The closure is to allow construction of the new Garfield County Courthouse and city of Rifle police/municipal building. The existing Garfield County Courthouse will remain operational throughout construction. Access to the courthouse will be from Railroad Avenue. The street is expected to reopen late summer of 2008.



A new theater organization, Grizzly Creek Productions Inc. will be putting on the Broadway musical Crazy For You at the new Roaring Fork High School tonight Friday and Saturday. The show starts 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
