Colorado River Valley Little Leagues annual board of directors elections, public meeting, and membership drive will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Rifle fire station.This charter covers the communities of Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Parachute and Meeker. Involvement from all communities is encouraged. Anyone interested in being on the board, a charter member, volunteer, or player for the upcoming season may attend. Sen. Gail Schwartz (D-Snowmass) will continue her listening tour from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Basalt Town Hall. Schwartz, who chairs the Severance Tax Interim Committee, will discuss the progress of that committee, and will address water and energy issues facing the state. She will also discuss highlights of the 2007 legislative session and her plans for the 2008 session. Schwartzs main purpose is to hear the views and concerns of her constituents.
Families may register to receive holiday meals and Angel Tree gifts for children from LIFT-UP, now through Friday, Nov. 9, at locations in Parachute, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. Registration will be for Thanksgiving and Christmas meal assistance, and/or Angel Tree gifts for children. You may only register your own family. Those wishing to donate nonperishable holiday food items may bring them to any LIFT-UP office. The Colorado Talking Book Library provides free library service through the mail, with postage paid.
