Starting next week, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Visitors will be able to enjoy Cave Tours, the Canyon Flyer alpine coaster, the Iron Mountain Tramway, the Gift Shop and the Lookout Grille Thursday Sunday. Wild and Adventure Tours will be available by reservation at 970-945-4228, ext. 111. All other attractions are closed for the season. The Adventure Park and all attractions will be closed Nov. 5 9 for management training. From Dec. 20 through Jan. 6, the Adventure Park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Park will be closed Thanksgiving and Christmas so employees can spend the holidays with their families. Sunlight Mountain Resort is looking for individuals who are interested in working at the mountain for the 07-08 ski season. Several different departments are looking for full- and part-time employees, including lift operators, the Childrens Center, education center, guest services, the Rental/Retail shop as well as people for sno-cat/vehicle maintenance. A job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3, at Sunlight Mountain Resort, with representatives from each department as well as job descriptions and applications available. All full-time positions include a season pass to Sunlight.

The West Garfield County Landfill will be back to winter hours starting Nov. 4. Closed Sundays, and reopen at 9 a.m. Mondays. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The landfill will also be closed Monday, Nov. 12 to observe Veterans Day, and will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.



The Silt Chamber of Commerce invites the public to enter its photo contest. This years directory cover was donated by Belinda Caldwell. The photo of Sammy Caldwell and Thing 2 on the Gill Ranch in Silt won first place in the people category and overall champion at the 2006 Garfield County Fair.Photos representing the valley and businesses may be awarded a place on the 2008 directory cover. The New Castle Recreation Department will be holding its third annual Volunteer Appreciation and Sports Award Ceremony from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 3, at Coal Ridge High School. New Castle citizens are invited to honor volunteers as well as cheer on the youth sport award recipients. Tickets can be purchased at the New Castle Community Center, call 984-3352. All proceeds benefit Your Friends For Life who support, nurture, and encourage cancer patients from Rifle to Aspen.



A two-day Marketing for a Small Business workshop will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 17, at the West Garfield CMC Campus. Topics to be covered will include marketing, promotion, analyzing the competition, and tips on recognizing and creating great ads.
