A campaign organizing event will be held for Glenwood area supporters of Sen. Barack Obama at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the home of Mike Sawyer, 1224 Colorado Ave. in Glenwood Springs. Carbondale Chamber quarterly luncheon/annual meeting will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Phat Thai, 343 Main St. in Carbondale.The chamber is asking that members who plan to attend to please RSVP at 963-1890. The cost will be lower if prepaid by Feb. 8. Cancellations must be received 48 hours in advance for a refund.
In honor of Valentines Day, Majid Kahhak will paint a love/romance-inspired painting live starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Kahhak Fine Arts & School, 411 Main St. in Carbondale. Wine and snacks will be served. For more information, call 704-0622.
Anyone interested in running as a write-in candidate in the April 1 town of Silt election, affidavits of intent can be signed at Town Hall at 231 N. Seventh St., Silt, until Jan. 28. Your name will not be on the ballot. If you are interested in circulating a nomination petition for trustee, those petitions will be available Feb. 11 at Town Hall and must be returned by Feb. 29.
Fourteen feature and short films showcasing diverse landscapes, adventures, viewpoints and cultures representing filmmakers from seven countries will be screened at MountainFilm on Tour at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 and 9 at the CRMS Barn in Carbondale. The two programs each feature entirely different slates of films. MountainFilm on Tour is one of CRMSs biggest annual fundraisers, benefiting CRMSs distinctive curricular programs. Tickets can b obtained at Sounds Easy, Glenwood Music and at CRMS. Programs are available at these locations and http://www.crms.org. Tickets also available at door, but frequently sell out in advance.CRMS is located at 1493 County Road 106, one mile west of the Highway 133 traffic light.
