The sixth annual Yagatta Regatta will be held Saturday, May 24, at Two Rivers Park in Glenwood Springs. This event benefits Operation Vacation, a nonprofit organization that promotes vacations in various regions of the country for U.S. troops and their families. American Legion-Garfield Post 83 of Glenwood Springs will be hosting its annual Memorial Day Celebration at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, at the Rosebud Cemetery. Scout Troop 225 will raise and lower the U.S. Flag, auxiliary member will lay wreaths, legion members is conducting a rifle Salute to the Dead, and local singers and trumpets will offer musical tributes.In preparation of Memorial Day, over 500 U.S. flags will be posted at individual veterans gravesites. Those interested in helping honor fallen veterans may meet at 4 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the brick building in Rosebud Cemetery.For questions, call Dan E. LeVan at 618-1910.

The public is cordially invited to attend Aspens Annual Memorial Day Ceremonies from noon-12:45 p.m. Monday, May 26, at the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Memorial, 506 E Main St., next to the Pitkin County Courthouse. Colors will be posted by the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Honor Guard, followed by lighting of the Veterans Memorial Candle.Father Bruce McNab of Christ Episcopal Church will give the lnvocation and Benediction. Jeannie Walla will present a vocal solo, and Richard Sundeen will play Taps. Memorial expressions from those in attendance are invited following the ceremony.



The Western Slope Chamber Music Series and The Institute of Dancing Arts will be hosting a yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24; and from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at 2148 Broadway in the Safeway parking lot in Grand Junction. All proceeds will be donated to the Nutcracker at the Avalon fund.

The Historic Redstone Castle is reopening for tours Saturday, May 24. Tours will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Fridays through Mondays for the summer season. Tickets are available in Redstone at Tiffanys, General Store and Crystal Club Caf. For more information, call 963-9656.



Project Graduation celebrates 21 years in Glenwood Springs so the community knows graduating seniors will be safe on their special night May 24.PG is a drug- and alcohol-free party that involves lots of food, games and prizes galore. A game of human bingo is played for the grand prize.
