Law enforcement agencies around the state will be out in full force over the Memorial Day Weekend to mark the unofficial start to summer DUI enforcement efforts. Fifty-two local agencies and the Colorado State Patrol will be increasing DUI patrols, saturation patrols and holding sobriety checkpoints over the weekend. The Memorial Day Weekend enforcement period ends at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 27.

Gavan Brouillette will be selling lemonade from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. May 31 in the Rifle Wal-Mart parking lot for donations to benefit childrens cancer research.The organization, Alexs Lemonade Stand, raises funds for childrens cancer research. Colorado Virtual Academy, the virtual school Gavan has attended for several years, is hosting lemonade stands all around the state the weekend of May 31.

The West Divide Water Conservancy District will hold its board of directors meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at the West Divide Water Conservancy District Office, 109 W. Fourth St. in Rifle.

An opening reception to kick off the Wild Women Exhibit 2008 will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts. The exhibition will run in the Main Gallery from June 6 through Sept. 2.Wild Women artists are Maggie May Butler, Linda Drake, Jacquetta Green, Kathy Honea, Wewer Keohane, Nicole Levesque, Caole Lowry, Nancy McKenney, Lorraine Morrison, Terry Muldoon, Shannon Muse, Ardith Robinson, Dee Dee Shea, Annette Thompson and Bobbie VanMeter.
