The Colorado Rocky Mountain School Class of 2008 graduation ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. May 31, on the lawn outside the Barn on the CRMS campus, at 1493 County Road 106 in Carbondale.Head of School Jeff Leahy will present the schools traditional leather diplomas to 32 boarding and day seniors, and announce the senior Academic and Community awards as voted on by faculty.One hundred percent of CRMS seniors have been accepted to college, matriculating to schools as diverse as University of Pennsylvania, Willamette, and the Pratt Institute.

Garfield County Library Branches are planning an array of free programs and entertainment, designed to encourage people of all ages to visit libraries and read during the summer. Children, teens and adults may sign up to read and win prizes beginning June 2. Library branches are located in Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute. Sign up for the 11th Annual Rifle Moose Round-Up Horseback Poker Ride. Participants will take off at 8 a.m. June 14 from the JQS. Trail in Rifle. A Western style barbecue dinner may be purchased after the trail ride. Water will be available. No racing or dogs allowed during the ride. This is an annual fundraiser for Rifle Moose Lodge #1345 benefiting Moose charities. Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. You can bring your own horse or rent one. The Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork will host a play group for parents and children from 9:30-11:30 a.m. every Wednesday in June. The play group will be hosted by early childhood educators and will include organized and free play.The Waldorf School will host a free childrens hour from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, in the Kinderhaus. Children up to age 5 and their parents will enjoy free play, snack, craft time, and The Magic Pot, a puppet play.The Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork is an independent pre-k through eighth-grade school. The next Energy Advisory Board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in the large conference room at the Garfield County Health and Human Services Building in Rifle.

The 2008 Strawberry Days Carnival, sponsored by American Furniture Warehouse and Radio La Tricolor, will be bigger and better with many new rides. The carnival takes places at the American Furniture Warehouse parking lot June 19-22. All access discount passes are available at Safeway, Watersweeper & the Dwarf, The Silver Bead and the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association. Carnival parking is very limited, and people are encouraged to ride the free Glenwood buses, which pick up at Glenwood Springs High School and drop off at the carnival.
