Heeling Partners of the Roaring Fork Valley is offering a free and informative Pet Expo for all interested persons from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. This event will provide an introduction to Heeling Partners, the Angels with Paws Program at Valley View Hospital and the Paws to Read Program at Glenwood Elementary School.Heeling Partners operates under the umbrella of the Delta Society, and teams must be evaluated prior to being involved in events. This expo will offer an overview of the evaluation procedure, the goals and needs of the programs and provide an opportunity to visit members and their canine teammates. The nationally syndicated independent news hour, Democracy Now! (DN!) will produce its global satellite broadcast live from the GrassRoots TV12 studio, at 6 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 2 and 3; with a rebroadcast at 5 p.m. on Channel 12; and online both times at http://www.grassrootstv.org . This live broadcast is a unique opportunity for GrassRoots TV12 to broadcast programming created in its studio to an international market. The Teen Book Club of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library will meet to discuss Caroline Cooneys book, Code Orange, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3. All teens are welcome to attend. Another Glenwood Springs City Council election has passed, but we doubt about two-thirds of Glenwood residents even noticed — certainly not based on the pathetic 31% turnout in balloting that concluded April 6.
