The second annual Zach Schwartz Memorial Scholarship Benefit Concert will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Veterans Park in Silt. The event will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, live music, silent auction, face painting and food. Ten bands will be featured; 2 Real 4 da Mind, In Shining Armor, CJ Skruffs, Jacob Russo, Rezurrected Muzic, Sound Theories, Splitsole, Immortal Thoughts and The Tippetts. A cover charge will be collected. All proceeds will benefit the high school scholarship fund in memory of Zach. The Roaring Fork Chapter of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Christ Community Church, just west of Basalt on Highway 82. Another Glenwood Springs City Council election has passed, but we doubt about two-thirds of Glenwood residents even noticed — certainly not based on the pathetic 31% turnout in balloting that concluded April 6.
