Law enforcement agencies across the state will be increasing DUI patrols and saturation patrols and conducting sobriety checkpoints to keep impaired drivers off state roadways and reservoirs during the long Fourth of July weekend, announced the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Forty-four local agencies, Colorado State Parks and the Colorado State Patrol will participate in the increased enforcement period as part of the Heat Is On campaign, ending at 3 a.m. Monday, July 7.

An educational and scenic float from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, on the lower Roaring Fork River is guided by a Roaring Fork Conservancy naturalist. Plan on wildlife, learning and fun. This mellow trip is designed for individuals and families ages 8 and up. Spaces limited. Reservations required by calling Whitewater Rafting at 945-8477.
