Area volleyball officials are in drastic need for help in the fall season. Persons interested in officiating high school or middle school volleyball from Vail to Aspen to Parachute, please contact Donna at dshrull@comcast.net or 970-433-0471. No experience necessary, prospective officials will be trained.

Get involved and help guide the development of these standards by completing a brief survey online at http://www.cogs.us. Surveys must be completed by July 31. A Parenting Through Divorce seminar will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in Carbondale. The seminar is designed to equip parents with the skills to raise healthy, well-adjusted children despite the challenges of divorce. It is required to finalize divorces in many jurisdictions. Pre-registration is required, call Tammy Perry at 963-1010.



The Garfield County Fair will kick off Friday, Aug. 1, with a carnival, series of horse shows and pie and cookie baking contests; culminating Saturday, Aug. 9, with the Garfield County Fair Parade and a car show. Most of the events take place at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, but some will occur at other venues in the town of Rifle. Events include a CPRA Rodeo, junior and senior rodeo event, community dance and movie nights, air show, concert featuring Night Ranger and Chris Cagle, and dozens of 4H, Future Farmers of America and Open Class exhibits and contests.For a complete schedule of events and entry forms, go to the Garfield County Fair website at http://www.garfieldcountyfair.com, or pick up your copy of the 2008 Fair & Open Class Book at the Garfield County Fairgrounds office.

Village Homes is sponsoring a champagne brunch fundraiser for YouthZone from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Village Homes models at Castle Valley Ranch.
