The 9Health Fair will be from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale. It is sponsored by the Carbondale Lions Club and the Carbondale Fire Department. Do not eat 12 hours before having blood drawn. Please drink water and continue to take prescribed medications as directed. Diabetics should not fast. Must be 18 years of age to participate. The seventh annual Mothers Day Mile race is Sunday, May 14. The race is a one-mile loop beginning and ending at Glenwood Medical Associates, 1830 Blake Ave., Glenwood Springs. The race benefits The Advocate Safehouse Project, which has a mission to eliminate domestic and sexual violence.Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to attend the festivities. All participants will receive a coveted finish line rose, a slice of homemade pie and awards per age group. Fifty silent-auction gift baskets will be available. A massage tent, kids activities and a fun community-oriented atmosphere are planned.Opening ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. with time waves starting at 1:15 p.m.Preregistration is encouraged. Runners and walkers may visit Glenwood Medical Associates and deposit their application in the drop-box. Or, visit http://www.active. com.Full and half-day volunteers are needed on race day to assist with registration, set-up, tear-down, water distribution, baking apple pies and course cheerleading. The Frontier Historical Museum in Glenwood Springs utilizes desk volunteers to greet visitors, take admission and sell items from the gift shop. Volunteers are needed to fill several two-and-a-half-hour time slots once per week during the summer season, which runs from May 1 through Sept. 30. Call 945-4448 for more information.
The Friends of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library will hold their spring used book sale from April 29 through May 6. The library is located at 413 Ninth St., and the sale is held in the basement. Please call 945-5958 for more information and times of the sale.
Alpine Bank Rifle has set up a medical fund account for Brenna Hinkley, who was injured in an accident and any help with the expenses would be appreciated. Donations can be made at any Alpine Bank.
