Concrete pavement repairs at 14th Street and Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs will begin after 9 a.m. on Monday. The repair work is expected to be complete by Monday, May 1.Several concrete pavement panels in the southbound direction have settled recently due to a waterline break at the Roaring Fork School District administration building located at the corner of 14th Street and Grand Avenue. The Roaring Fork School District has contracted FCI Constructors Inc. of Grand Junction to perform the repair work. The repair work will include removal of existing concrete pavement panels, excavation of saturated soils, backfilling, and pouring new concrete pavement at this location. Some traffic delays should be expected, as the southbound (upvalley) lanes will be reduced to a single lane between 13th and 15th streets through the duration of the project. The northbound (downvalley) lanes may be narrowed slightly, but two lanes in this direction will remain. An over-width restriction will be placed on the upvalley lane at all times through the project area; loads greater than 11 feet in width will be restricted. Access to all businesses along Grand Avenue and the Glenwood Springs High School will be maintained throughout the repair work.
