A workshop on the principles and tools of the ancient art of Feng Shui will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at A Spiritual Center in Carbondale. The Redstone Community Association will conduct its final Winter Series program of this season with Sheep Dogs Trials and Training at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Redstone Church. Ellen Nieslanik, current coordinator of the Meeker Sheep Dog Trials, will give a presentation on the training and use of sheep dogs. Information will be provided on the Meeker Classic Sheep Dog Championship Trials to be held in September. For information, call 963-1372.
Mountain Family Health Centers were recognized for their successful participation in the Colorado Community Health Networks (CCHN) Immunization Initiative, which aims to improve statewide immunization rates. The initiative guides immunization efforts toward excellence by using proven strategies to achieve quality improvement and increased coverage rates. Mountain Family Health Centers site teams in Glenwood Springs and Blackhawk were honored for achieving 90 percent or higher up-to-date immunization coverage rates.Since enrolling in the program last year, Mountain Family Heath Center in Glenwood Springs has gone from approximately 65 percent of their patients being immunized to 96 percent for 1-year olds, and 94 percent for 2-year olds.
Get ready for summer fun at the free Summer Activities Fair from 3:30-7 p.m. Monday, May 15, at the Eagle County Community Center in El Jebel. The event is organized by the Roaring Fork Family Resource Centers and Eagle County Health and Human Services.Over 30 presenters can help your child chose a fun and educational program. The MS 5K and MS Walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, starting at Grizzly Creek. The run starts at 8 a.m. (Grizzly Creek to No Name) and the walk starts at 9 a.m. at No Name (to Grizzly Creek and back to No Name). The Friends of the Glenwood Springs Branch Library will hold its spring used book sale from April 29 through May 6. The library is located at 413 Ninth St., and the sale is held in the basement. Please call 945-5958 for more information and times of the sale.
