Come and learn the differences among the candidates. All four candidates running for the Garfield County Commission will be presented in a candidates forum on Tuesday, September 23 in the Battlement Mesa Activity Center at 6:30 p.m. From District 2 the two candidates are John Martin and Stephen Bershenyi. From District 3 the two candidates are Judge Steve Carter and Mike Samson. All Garfield County voters will be able to vote for one candidate from each of the two districts. The format of the forum will be five minute a presentation from each of the candidates followed by questions and answers. The questions will come from the audience, addressed to each of the four candidates. The candidates will have two minutes to respond to each question. Glenwood Springs fourth annual Oktoberfest will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in Centennial Park, Ninth and Grand Avenue. The festival will include live music, dance performances, beer, food and vendors.Beginning at noon, local rock band the Missing Links will perform. Entertainment turns to traditional Oktoberfest venue, including traditional German polka tunes, with Alpine Echo at 3 p.m. DMiesbacher Oimtaler, a Bavarian club dedicated to the preservation of the Bavarian culture and customs through dances, music and traditional clothing, will perform during breaks, with audience participation encouraged.
