What Will It Take to Feed the World Sustainably? will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Given Institute Lecture Hall, 100 E. Francis St. in Aspen. The free lecture will be given by Dr. Rosamond Lee Naylor, William Wrigley, senior fellow and director, and is presented by The Aspen Global Change Institute.

The Grand Valley Kiwanis will conduct its 20th annual community-wide food drive in Parachute and Battlement Mesa Saturday, Nov. 8. Collecting boxes and cans of non-perishable food items, volunteers will sweep neighborhoods throughout Parachute and Battlement Mesa, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. Each residence will be passed by only once. For homeowners, leaving donations where they can be seen from the street is strongly suggested, but collection crews will spot donations on the doorsteps of apartments. Donors should avoid super-sizes and packaging likely to be damaged by rough and repeated handling. Non-food items, while appreciated, should not be donated because of limited storage space. Suggested items for donation are all types of canned goods, cereal, dry and evaporated milk, coffee, boxed potatoes, jelly, stuffing, pancake mix, syrup, hamburger-helper, pasta, cake mixes, frosting, pie filling, cranberry sauce, gelatin and puddings. In the event the pick-up is missed, donations may be left in the lobby of City Market from Saturday, Nov. 8 until Tuesday, Nov. 11th.
