Meet Heidi and Husband-Head at a book signing of Skully Says Shut It!: Life, love and laughter with Husband-Head, a collection of 60 Fried Rice columns, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Patti’s Main Street Coffeehouse in downtown New Castle. Books will be available for purchase.

If you are a Glenwood Springs disabled person or senior in need of some help with basic indoor repairs or yard maintenance, or know of one who needs help, please call 384-8746 for information about the new program, Helping Hands for Seniors. Leave your name and number, and a volunteer will call back.The program is sponsored by High Country RSVP. Volunteers will be welcomed to this program.

Challenges of Raising the Immigrant Child, an orientation workshop will provide information about the school system, the law and youth, and much more at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 at St. Vincents Catholic Church, 250 Midland Ave. Free babysitting and snacks. New Hopeful Heart, a nonprofit organization benefitting people in recovery from mental health issues, is taking food donations of nonparishables and canned goods for the less fortunate, and also for baskets which will be given away for the holidays. Please drop off donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at 1217 Howard Ave., behind the Garfield County Fairgrounds next to Rich’s Upholstery in Rifle. The students of Glenwood Springs Middle School cordially invites veterans and the public to attend a veterans’ celebration at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the GSMS gymnasium. Veterans are encouraged to be honored guests. Plan to arrive at 12:30 p.m. to register, and remain for the reception after the concert.
