The Glenwood Springs Art Guild will hold its annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs. The guild will discuss and review the grants and funding given each year, finalize and review reports on the Fall Art Festival, and hold elections for 2009 officers. This is a crucial meeting, and as many members as possible should plan to attend. Every members input is valuable and will help to determine the direction for 2009. A demonstration will be given by Laurel Astor on Pastels in Living Color. Refreshments will be served, and as always the meeting is open to the public.

A parade of trees is planned to benefit the Silt Historical park the evening of Dec. 5. Local businesses will donate decorated trees to then be auctioned silently at the end of the night. The park, with all its historical buildings, will be decorated for this winter celebration.The Anvil Points Quilt Guild will sell pastries and beverages.To donate a tree, contact Abbie Peterson at 309-8120. This is a Senior Seminar project.

Garfield County will host a Foster Care and Adoption Celebration Event from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. This event will be a celebration of adoptive families as well as informational for people interested in foster care and adoption. Experienced adoptive parents, caseworkers and attorneys will be present to answer any questions about foster care and adoption. There will also be fun activities for the kids and door prizes.For more information, call 625-5282 ext. 106.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 21st, through fall of 2009, Dokes Lane (County Road 296) will be closed from 30th Street to Stephens Hill Road (County Road 29) due to construction. this area is north of Wamsley Elementary School in Rifle.

The Colorado Rocky Mountain School fall student production of Youre A Good Man Charlie Brown will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13-15 at the CRMS Barn. This heart-warming musical follows an average day in the life of Charles Schulzs Charlie Brown. Tickets can be obtained at the door.The CRMS Barn is located one mile west of the Highway 133 and 7-11 traffic light. For more information, call 963-2562.
