The Ferdinand Hayden Chapter of Trout Unlimited presents Richard Wheelers Peacock Bass Fishing in the Amazon Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), 100 Puppy Smith St., Aspen. The Roaring Fork Peace Coalition presents the Wheels of Justice from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, Rooms Sopris A and B.The event features a biofueled bus tour of America featuring peace activists speaking about their experiences of war and occupation in Iraq and Palestine/ Israel. $10 donation requested but not required.

The West Garfield County Landfill will be closed Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day, and will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.



The Grand Valley Citizens Alliance will be holding two community meetings to review the Rifle-Silt-New Castle Community Development Plan draft. The RSNC-CDP is a joint agreement between Silt Mesa residents and the gas industry, which sets out a formalized plan to manage development in the Silt Mesa area. This is the final opportunity for public input before the plan is adopted. The meetings will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Rifle Middle School and from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Burning Mountains Fire District building in Silt.
